GT Fishing in Japan

Japan is the home of modern fishing techniques for giant trevally. The country offers several destinations for GT fishing, particularly in its warmer southern regions. Some popular locations known for GT fishing in Japan include:

Okinawa Islands: The tropical islands of Okinawa, such as Ishigaki, Miyako, and Yonaguni, are well-known for their clear waters and abundant marine life, including Giant Trevally. These islands provide excellent opportunities for GT fishing, especially during the warmer months.

Southern Islands of Kyushu: The southern part of Kyushu, Japan’s southernmost main island, also offers good GT fishing. Kagoshima and Tanegashima are among the places known for their diverse fishing opportunities. Here are some opportunities for real big fish.

Amami Islands: Situated between Kyushu and Okinawa, the Amami Islands are known for their rich biodiversity. Anglers can target Giant Trevally and other game fish in the waters surrounding these islands.

Tokara Islands: South of Kyushu, the Tokara Islands are another region in Japan where GT fishing enthusiasts may find success. These islands offer a mix of deep-sea and coastal fishing opportunities. Here many big GTs have been caught on jigging gear.
