FISHING CROATIA

Croatia offers the best fishing in the Adriatic Sea, depending on the season. In recent years, thanks to recovering stocks of Bluefin Tuna, it has become a mecca for popping enthusiasts who tackle these hard fighting fish. Surface fishing is restricted to Tunas, whereas you can catch many species when jigging, the most targeted being Amberjack and Dentex. Fishing from the shore however is difficult, the best chances to catch big Seabass and Bluefish are in late autumn and winter.

!You need a licence to fish in Croatia!

Recommended months: March/April/October

Best fishing spots

  1. Zadar Archipelago (Dugi Otok, Ugljan)

    • Deep reefs, channels. Try to fish the western site of the islands where deeper water is close.
  2. Kornati Islands

    • Rocky structures, clear water. Perfect for jigging and also for shore jigging!
  3. Vis & Biševo

    • Deep water & wrecks. Has one of the best spots for speed jigging Amberjacks in winter. But also big Dentex and other snappers roam the waters.
  4. Kvarner Bay (Krk, Cres, Lošinj)

    • Channels & rocky bottom. One of the most pressured areas in Croatia. You need to fish early and fish spots at the end of the Pula peninsula.
