Sea fishing in Croatia
Croatia is one of the most popular fishing destinations for German anglers due to its proximity. Depending on the season, the Adriatic Sea around Croatia offers a wide range of fishing opportunities and, with bluefin tuna stocks recovering, the chance to catch big fish again. Surface fishing is limited to little tunny and bluefin tuna, while jigging in the winter months can yield large quantities of amberjack and dentex. Shore fishing, on the other hand, is not particularly productive, with the fall/winter months also offering the best prospects for catching sea bass and bluefish.
Important: fishing without a license is prohibited!
Recommended months: March/April and October/November
Best fishing spots
Zadar Archipelago (Dugi Otok, Ugljan)
Deep reefs, channels. The west side is significantly better from the shore, where there are several spots where the shore drops steeply.
Kornati Islands
Rocky structures, clear water. Excellent spots for jigging, but larger fish can also be caught from the shore here.
Vis & Biševo
Deep water and wrecks offer opportunities to catch wreckfish and large amberjacks.
Kvarner Bay (Krk, Cres, Lošinj)
Canals and rocky bottom. Fishing pressure is extremely high here. The best spots are at the bridge near Novigrad and below Pula.
