Fishing in Madeira
Madeira is well known among big game fisherman for big Marlin, but in the last years the island’s potential as a jigging and popping destination has been revealed. The island offers a stable climate throughout the year and very short access routes to the fishing spots. Popping is restricted to Bluefin Tunas which are hunting around the island in autumn. However when jigging you can catch a rich array of fish. Especially world record Amberjack, various species of Grouper and Snapper being the main target.
From shore you can get big Bluefish and if you are lucky Grouper and Almaco Jacks in Madeira. Defintely try the sister island Porto Santo if shore game is your thing – there you have the possibility to get even Mahi-Mahi!
