Laccadives fishing

Fishing the Laccadives

The Laccadives are an archipelago in the Indian Ocean consisting of 39 islands and are geologically a part of the Maldives. Fishing for foreigners has only been allowed for some years, opening up a hunting ground with endless options. The fishing pressure has been growing over the last years but is by no means comparable to the Maldives. Virtually every tropical fish species can be caught here in trophy-sizes, no matter if you do jigging or popping. The only downside: fishing from shore isn’t allowed, so you have to sleep on the boats when you fish the outer atolls.

(In)Shore:

Fishing from shore is forbidden in the Laccadives!

Offshore:

Popping: Giant Trevally, Napoleon, Yellowfin Tuna (January-March)

Jigging: Amberjack, Jobfish, Dogtooth Tuna

Casting: Spanish Mackerel, Mahi-Mahi, Coral Trout

Recommended months: October – April
