Fishing Mauritius
Mauritius is known as a dream destination for big game anglers. However, popping and jigging are also very popular here. From January onwards, GTs move closer to the coast and can even be caught from the shore with poppers in certain spots. Jigging for various species of tuna is good practically all year round.
In addition, the Sudan Banks are probably one of the best areas for monster doggies, GTs, and yellowfins. This spot alone makes Mauritius worth a visit!
Recommended months: October – May
Best fishing spots
Le Morne: Known for deep-sea fishing for marlin, tuna, and dorado. Its proximity to deep water makes it a hotspot for big game fishing. At the right time of year, surface fishing for yellowfin tuna is also possible.
Trou Aux Biches: Good spot for jigging just outside the reef; smaller trevallies can be caught on the sandy beaches at high tide.
Grande Riviere Noire: The only hotspot for GT fishing on the island.
